Katie Balfanz
State Director- CO, KS, MN, MT, ND, NE, SD, WY

Katie is the new UDA State Director for the upper Mid-West region.  Katie can help you throughout your entire season in numerous ways.  Here are just a few of the many things that Katie can do for you:

-Help you set up judges for your teams tryouts  
-Help you choose the best summer camp for your team
-Register your team for camp
-Register your team for any regional competition
-Update your invoices/registrations if you have changes
-Provide the tools you need to start, build, and maintain a successful dance team program at your school or in your community.

Although Katie is new to this position, she is no stranger to dance or to UDA. Read below to learn more about Katie!

Dance & UDA Experience
-Over 20 years of dance experience
-Former dancer of the nationally ranked Eden Prairie High School
-6 year UDA Head Instructor
-Member of the UDA Program Committee
-Choreographer for UDA summer material taught nationwide
-2008 UDA Veteran of the Year
-Recipient of the 2008 “Ravin’ Fan Award” given by UCA/UDA Camp Administration Staff
-One of select few UDA instructors chosen to travel to China to teach dance and UDA material

-Hometown: Eden Prairie, Minnesota
-Education: Graduated Cum Laude from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota with a duel degree in dance and English
-Job you had before UDA: Instructor & choreographer at local dance studio
-Best Moment in the last 3 years: Teaching dance in China during the Beijing Olympics! A fantastic experience!!
-Favorite place to eat when money isn't important: The French Meadow Bakery, a delicious neighborhood, organic restaurant. The perfect spot for brunch on Sunday morning!
-Your friends would use what 3 words to describe you: knowledgeable, approachable, and enthusiastic
-Best dance show on TV right now: So You Think You Can Dance! I never miss an episode!
-Favorite comedian: Ellen DeGeneres
-Favorite style of dance: Contemporary and Pom-both to dance and to choreograph
-Advice or thoughts for coaches/advisors:
Be consistent! Set standards for yourself and your dancers and stay true to them. Build a trusting relationship with parents and dancers, and with that strong foundation, you will accomplish great things together!
